Finaly it happend!
Hi volks,
i've got a big problem. Unfortunately i saved a 56 GB partition accidentally to my 2 TB Raid 1 Secure System (GPT).Almost half of the 2 TB hard disk space was in use with very important data (child pictures etc.) :(
Is there any way, and if, what will be the best to recover data from the disk?
Theoreticaly there must be still 2 TB minus 56 GB of data somewhere on the disk without the old mbr and file allocation table??
Thx for any help
Andreas

Perhaps there is a message here for us. Even though the RAID 1 writes mirrors and offers great data integrity from the hardware perspective, it still is only 1 copy of the data as seen by the user. Since the erroneous write command writes on both disks, the RAID setup in this unfortunate situation is no better than a single disk.
I know I have lost more data due to my finger mistakes than hardware failures. So always make backups no matter how secure you think your operating environment is.

Good advice. Additionally, RAID 1 only protects against failure of a hard disk. It offers no protection against software errors and will happily duplicate garbage, glitches, and erroneous data on both disks. In practice, software errors (and finger mistakes) happen with far greater frequency than hardware failures so if you value your data you will not rely only on RAID 1 for protection.

Yes Mark you guess was right. That was exactly what i have done.
Thank you so far for all your answers and sorry for my rugged english.
Meanwhile I downloaded the the two applications recuva and pc inspector file recovery. The first of them took me about 16 hours for one run. The result was not to bad but as I expected now I ve got all the files in one directory without any stucture :(
Ach damn. At least the pictures of my kids are still there.
Next pc inspector will get his chance. Do you expect better result with professional Pay Software?
Cheers
Andreas

Andreas:
I don't have much experience with file recovery software other than GetDataBack. However, Recuva is a name that comes up frequently on the forum. I'm glad that you got some of your pictures back.
