True Image 11 not compatible with v2011 ??

Thread needs solution

Seem to have several problems here...

I upgraded a short time ago from True Image 11 to True Image Home 2011. This now seems like a bad move, as there appears to be no way to restore a previously made .TIB file under True Image Home 2011.

Tried to re-install True Image 11 alongside True Image Home 2011 so I have BOTH applications on the same machine. Wouldn't let me.

I'd previously created, and successfully used, an emergency bootup CD. Doesn't seem to recognise the main hard disk drive in the current configuration. Using an Asus P5N7A-VM motherboard. Main Windows XP hard disk on SATA1, DVD drive on SATA2, hard disk containing Acronis .TIB files on SATA4. All drives work and are fully recognised when running XP.

Roger,

It is possible that 2011 doesn't recognise v11 tib files as Acronis only guarantee one version backwards compatability. Having said that, I'm a little surprised unless the images were made with an early build of v11 as Acronis changed the imaging mechanism during v11's lifetime.

Which CD isn't working for you the 2011 or the v11 one?

Thanks for the response. Maybe I didn't explain the problems very clearly...

TI v11 programme has Backup and Restore facilities clearly marked and easily found in the relevant window. Frankly, I cannot see any facility once I open v2011 which even ALLOWS me the option to restore a previously made .TIB file! Presumably I must be missing something somewhere...

It isn't that the CD doesn't work, the installation programme halts soon after I start, effectively saying I can't install as there's already another version of Acronis on board. The reason I wanted to have BOTH versions on the machine was so I could restore from my previously made .TIB files, and cope with cloning drives for Vista and W-7.

Any ideas why Acronis doesn't like that Asus motherboard?

ATI2011 will restore ati11 tib files but not vice versa. If you want to use ATI11, then I suggest first making an ati2011 bootcd and then uninstalling ati2011 and then installing ati11. I use ATI2011 bootcd for all my restores going back as far as version ati10. I thinks it's the best bootcd ATI ever made.

If you are using a store-bought boot/installation cd, that's probably your problem. Register your serial number on ATI web and go to the products updates pages and download the iso to burn a boot CD or make one from within the ATI2011 program.

Scott, thank you for your reply. No, ATI2011 not bought from a store, downloaded (and registered) from website.

Ok, booting up with the ATI2011 recovery CD I see the option to Restore, but as previously mentioned, ATI2011 doesn't recognise my hard disks! So I need to boot Windows XP first and then run the ATI2011 application from there. So would you or someone be kind enough to point out the steps I need to take/select after starting up ATI2011 in order to find the 'restore from .TIB image' option (from within the Windows environment).

If the Windows version of 2011 doesn't show any hard drives, this points to possibly the wrong SNAPAPI driver, so the v11 version might still be installed.

First check in Windows\system32 folder and see what version of SNAPAPI your system is using.

Even if it allows you to, it is not a good idea to have multiple versions of TIH installed as they can clash with each other.

To get 2011 to recognise previous images you can either browse to the image or instruct 2011 to search for archives.

You can try downloading the iso for the boot cd from the web site. Has a diff loader and slightly diff drivers so might work fo you when the other does not.

fwiw, here is acronis's list of ati2012 compatibilty across versions:
