How to backup Thunderbird mail directories

Thread needs solution

2012 does not allow me to do a backup of T'bird's email directories. In Win 7 x64, these files are stored under "C:\Users\My Name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla-etc etc". The users directory does not show in the TI Directory Tree, and since I don't use virtual Libraries I don't see how to direct TI to where these files are. The e-mail backup in 2012 doesn't allow for backup of Thunderbird files, and I do not use any of the other mail programs that TI 2012 will back up.

It's certainly an oversight that TI 2012 will not handle Thunderbird files.

Am I correct in saying that there is no way to access these mail files for a daily backup by themselves?

If you turn off "hide hidden files" in Window Explorer, and then launch ATI, you should be able to select any folder you want in a file backup. There are currently file selection issues with ATI 2012, or with locked files, but not specifically about hidden folders or Thunderbird.

Judith, I am using moz backup to save my thunderbird as well as my firefox files. It quick, its easy, and its free. It saves all of my contacts, folders, and emails as well as all my bookmarks, privacy data, and more. I recently was forced to do a clean install and once completed, the first thing I did was to DL moz backup again and load my files. It was a quick and simple process and it made the clean install a bit less painful. Hope this helps!
