General trial version questions!

Thread needs solution

Hi Everybody

I am looking to buy one of the Acronis products for my backup requirements. I am not really fussed as to which one (Home or Business, any would do) but this is need :-

1. I want to run a full backup job (for files and folders) to be run every Sunday night without compression. The data volume is around 150 Gb with about 80% of it in .jpg, .,wav and.mp3 formats.
2. I then want a differential backup job (for files and folders) to be run on every other day, again without backup.
3. On the 8th day, all of the differential backup and the full back must preferably be deleted by the application before the new full backup is run (I can do that in the post command batch run)
Both of these jobs need to be run at 'Shutdown', that is, just befor Shutdown.

Further, I would like 'Confirmation Before Backup' option which would give me the option to cancel the backup job, should I choose to do it, just before the backup job begins in both these cases. I would also like to run both Pre and Post commands (batch files for some tasks) that is, before and after backup tasks, again in both these cases.

Can anyone recommend a version of Acronic Backup application that would do all of the above.

I have looked at Auto Backup v2.4, Backup Maker and EaseUs and GFI Backup. None of these with the exception of Backup Maker does it all. The reason that I have not finally select Backup Maker despite it being able to do all that I need is that the free version seems to have a glitch and I haven't been able to get a suitable fix from the providers.

Any respone shall be highly valued.

Best regards

Deepak

Given your requirements about post/pre, option to terminate, I'd recommend you go for Acronis Backup and Recovery. It includes a full command line interface, and you will be able to make your scripts as sophisticated as you want, in and around the backup task.

Hi Pat

Thanks for your response. I have cursorily looked at the command reference but I didn't find the option to specify the 'Confirm Before Backup'. Further, can we do backups (full and differential) - from the front end - without compression?

Any suggestions, if that can be realized in this version?
