Acronis True Image 2011 - Can not restore any file

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I am trying to restore any file using Acronis True Image 2011.

When I do it says its successful however no file is restored.

When however I look at the log it shows an error, interestingly the file being restored is always "". If I try recover to original nothing happens. If I specify a different location and absolute path then it creates the path but no file. I have attached screens shots of recovery screens and log file.

Recover Backup Archive
From file:
""
Recovery of:
Files
Recover to:
N:\downloads
Date:
1/1/1970
Time:
12:00:00 AM
The end of the file has been reached.
Operation has been successfully completed.
Operation has succeeded.

Not sure how this can be classed as "successful".

Please can you tell me how this can be fixed.

Thanks
Duncan

I just upgraded to 2012 to see if it made any difference and it doesn't, nor is the error a known error. Event code: 0x00040002.

Annoyingly it still says everything worked and shows up as a green tick in the logs which is just stupid.

Anyway I can restore a file backed up today.

I think what has happened is that a while ago I stopped non stop backup and moved the non stop backup area from one USB drive to another larger one (on a different drive letter), after which I updated the non stop backup location, restarted it and everything appeared ok and backups run etc.

I can only assume the non stops backups have the storage drive letter hard coded in them somewhere and thus even though you can explore the backups, see versions of files and select one to restore without any issue the restore process then tries to retrieve the file from the wrong (now non existant drive) and thus gets an end of file.

Please can you confirm if this is the case and supply a fix such that it is possible to recover files from the older backups.

Thanks
Duncan

Double click the backup file while in Explorer to open it up as a virtual disk and try to copy the file(s) you want. Or, in Explorer, right click the backup and choose mount, and then copy the files you want.

backup file?

all I have are .data files, each 1GB in size.

These are created by Non Stop Backup.
