TI Home 2011 - How To Move/Copy a TIB Image.

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'd like to move/copy an image file made with TI Home 2011 and have tried to locate assistance in the manual as well as searching here within the forum.

Last week while searching on the forum on a different subject matter, I ran across a post that stated you shouldn't move an image file within "Windows Explorer" (using XPsp3) as Windows users are accustomed to doing. Something to do with breaking some link/association within TI.

What's the recommended method for performing a move/copy of an image file?

I would greatly appreciate any assistance,

ballen

Blair,

You can go about it 3 ways:

You can use the move backup command within ATI to move a TIB file.

You can also move your TIB files manually using Windows explorer BUT you need:
- delete your existing backup task (this will not delete the TIB you have moved),
- set up new task to point to the new destination (this will start new backup chains)

You can also edit the backup destination of your existing backup task. As new backup chains will be produced, and the older ones cleaned up or deleted manually from within ATI, your backup will migrate entirely to the new destination.

Hi Pat,

Many thanks for your assistance! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! Discovered something, partly my fault I guess.

I'm more used to working from TI within the OS (XPsp3) whereby the "Move" option is selected from the "Main Screen" as a menu-driven choice if there are images listed under "My Backups" on the page.

I used the "boot disk" to create my image on a "network share". Using the "boot disk" again today, there were no "backups" listed on the "Main Screen" though I could find the image through the "Recover" option if I mapped & authenticated. The (2) screens are distinctly different.

It wasn't until I read your post that I discovered I had to mouse "rt. click" on the "mapped" network image to gain access to the "Move" command. Once done, I could then move image. Had a "Doh" moment trying to locate an actual menu choice.

Replying to help others.

Many thanks for your kindness Pat!,

Blair
