NTLDR MISSING
I am running ACRONIS True Image Home version11 on an XP computer.
I have creaated a backup of my operating system partition using a CD built from the application.
The backup image, created as a sector by sector image, verifies ok.
When I come to restore the system partition, however, it will not boot.
I get an 'NLDR missing or invald' error - what am I doing wrong?

1) The partition
2) Yes and also NO
3) YES - The partition I was attempting to restore was on HD0 which is active and a primary HD

Soemtimes when I do a restore, the boot order specified inthe BIOS changes -- I think this happens when actual harddisks change but in any event it's very easy to check anc correct.
I'd also try restoring the MBR

Do you have only one partition?
Do you have only one disk? Is there any chance you have a multi-boot system?
3) YES - The partition I was attempting to restore was on HD0 which is active and a primary HD
A partition is primary or extended, primary partitions can be active, not disks. I am not splitting hair here, but I want to make sure you restored all the partitions you had on your disk.
If you did, then it looks like you followed the right process with Acronis, and I cannot explain why the message is showing up.
You will have to use a Windows XP repair console to repair your computer startup.

With the 'benefit of hindsight' all is clear...
HD0 had two partitions on it.
Partition two WAS extended.
Changing it to a primary partition alows 'acronis' to work.
