ATI 2010: Problem with creating a backup of a vhd with Windows 7

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 into a vhd. Now I want to backup this virtual partition. So I created a new task and run it. ATI 2010 just holds my system while trying to create a backup from this partition. The progress bar doesn't advance. I was not able to start any other program until I reseted the system. A backup of a normal partition was no problem and completed.

Is there any hint how to make this work?

Thanks,
Sven

Hello Sven Blüge,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

How exactly are you trying to perform your VM backup? Have you installed the product to VM itself? What is the type of your VM?

If I understand you correctly, you have tried to perform the same backup from the same program (installed on VM) but of non virtual partition, and it was competed with success, is that correct?

Could you please provide me with the exact sequence of actions that lead to the issue you report, so that I can try to reproduce it?

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Hello Alexander,

I installed Windows 7 and all programs into an VHD and and boot from this vhd like from a normal partition. I do not run Windows 7 itself in a VM, I just use the next VHD-mount feature of Windows 7.

Drive C -> mounted VHD
Drive D -> first HDD with VHD-Image for drive C
Drive E -> second HDD

I created an backup-task for drive C and for drive D by selecting the single partition one these drives. Backup of drive D was successful. Backup of drive C just holds my system like I described it above.
