ATIH 2012 - Unable to create bootable media i.e. CD/DVD

Thread needs solution

I am unable to create bootable media using ATIH 2012 - the following fault message comes up on the screen. I have reinstalled ATIH 2012 but the problem persists!!!!

"Cannot load required components. Please reinstall Acronis True Image Home. (0x18000B) ti_boot.so (0x18000B). ti_boot.so (0x18000B) Tag: 0x9078F2483C89C393.

More information about this error and solutions may be available online in the Acronis Knowledge Base.
To access the online resource manually, enter the event code at: http://kb.acronis.com/errorcode/
Event code: 0x0018000B+0x0018000B"

There is no item in the errorcode database for this problem - so much for the solution.

The software appears to be functioning normally in all other respects. As I have been on holidays away from my computer my technical support period has expired. The last suggestion I had from Acronis before the expiry was to create an ISO online!!! This is not a solution to a problem with the software but just a way of avoiding my problem and fixing the problem in a major feature of the software.

Can anyone help, please.

Rod,

Others have reported having this problem and I think only a couple of people have resolved it.

Just to take your last statement first, are you sure someone didn't suggest downloading the ISO from your account, which whilst not solving the error you have, would get you up and running with a recovery CD?

Have you had a previous version of TIH installed? One person solved this problem by deleting the old boot media folders, and then running a repair install of 2012, all then worked as planned.

Delete the following folder.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\MediaBuilderHome (if you have a 32 bit system ignore the (x86) )

Hi Colin
Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately the problem persists even after implementing your suggestion. Would you recommend uninstalling ATIH 2012 and Plus Pack 2012 and then deleting the entire Acronis directory in Common Files before attempting a full new installation? Perhaps there is some other remnant of the previous ATIH & Plus Pack 2011 installations in the Common Files Acronis directory that survives the update and is causing the difficulty?

You may not be familiar with the detailed workings of Vista but is it normal and/or desirable for a Common Files directory for Acronis to remain on the system even after the installations have been uninstalled? To my uninformed eye it looks rather untidy to not fully delete all references to an uninstalled product from a system as part of an uninstall procedure. My computer is running Vista 32bit.

Rod

Thanks very much for the reference - at last a little light at the end of the tunnel.

Rod

Hello Rod and Colin,

Thank you for your posts and thank you very much for your help Colin.

Rod, I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused by this issue. At the moment the only workaround is to download the bootable media from your Acronis web-account.

Our Development team is working on this problem and we will update everyone once this is resolved.

Please check the following KB article for additional information:

 - Acronis True Image Home 2012: Failed to Create Bootable Media with Error "Cannot load required components. Please reinstall Acronis True Image Home."

Let me know if you have additional questions please.

Thank you.

I had the same issue when I loaded ATIH 2012 - upgrade version.

With my system setup, I previously had the ATIH with Plus Pack 2011 installed and installed ATIH 2012 over top. What the installation of 2012 did was remove 2011 so one is only left with the 2012 version. When one goes to create the bootable media, I noticed the option screen was calling out the ATIH 2011 version (14.0.6942) instead of the 2012 version (15.0.5545). Since it was removed during the install, the program can't find the files and that is why the error occurs.

The workaround I performed after the above was to remove ATIH 2012. Instead of installing 2011 again and then 2012, skip the 2011 install. Just install the 2012 version using the license key for 2011 and 2012 upgrade. If one has the 2011 installed, uninstall the 2011 version prior to installing the 2012 version.

Do so, I was then able to create a bootable media.

Hi Kirk

Thanks. I have already tried your suggested solution but it was not successful in my case. As you will see from the Acronis Moderator post above it appears there is a fault in ATIH 2012 which can result in a failure to produce bootable media. I have used the suggested work-around by downloading the ISO image file as a stopgap measure pending a programming fix by Acronis.

hello can i give you one idea

it resolve my problem

Unable to create bootable media

Cannot load required components. Please reinstall Acronis True Image Home. (0x18000B) ti_boot.so (0x18000B). ti_boot.so (0x18000B) Tag: 0x9078F2483C89C393.

Error code +0x0018000b+0x0018000b

try this

01 * delete this folder ( TrueImageHome )
in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis

02 * and this folder if exist ( OnlineBackupStandalone )
in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis

and reinstall true image 2012

I'm having the same problem with Disk Director except it tells me to reinstall Acronis Bootable Media Builder. I have downloaded the ISO but I want to put it on a USB flash drive. I have tried various methods of doing that but it will not boot from the USB (I have set my laptop to boot from external device) and I have to remove the USB drive to get back to Windows. What is the recommended method to put the ISO on a USB and make it bootable?

I have also tried to create it from TIH 2011 and it says it created it successfully but when try to boot from the USB I get MBR Error 2 and MBR Error 1 and it says press a key to boot from floppy. Why won't this one boot?

Hi Norman

Sorry about the late response. I have not tried a USB flash drive, only a CD on which I have used a CD burner application capable of burning an ISO file i.e. I have not tried to just copy the ISO file across to the CD using, for example, Windows Explorer. I do not have much experience in these matters I am afraid. One other thought - what drive does your system go looking for when seeking a bootable file? Perhaps an amendment to the boot sequence is necessary to include searching a USB drive?

The system will normally look for the first boot device listed in the BIOS. In a laptop, this usually requires the user to press the ESC or F2 key ( varies by vendor) and to choose the desired boot device--if the user is wanting to boot from something other than the hard disk.

In a desktop, you can usually set the boot device in the BIOS and it will use a 1st, then 2nd , then 3rd choice until it finds a device which will boot. If booting from the USB is a one time choice, it must be chosen during the bootup process via the BIOS,
