Trouble at the start

I installed a full retail version of TI Home 2010 on a computer running Vista Home Premium SP2. The product is registered. This is my first time using Acronis TI. The problem I am having occurred with the initial install and the installed upgrade (build 5055) which is presently running.

My problem is that I cannot get any backup to succeed. I figured I would start with a simple backup of the System State. It started running and the operation progress box showed. It states Current Operation - System State Backup - "Gathering information on system protected files ... Please wait". When hovering over the system tray icon, it shows 0% complete. It has been that way for almost 2 hours.

Am I just impatient ? Does the product need activation because I thought registering it automatically activates it ?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try starting this way instead - to get familiar with the product.

Make the bootable Rescue CD, boot with it and from its menu, do a Backup of the entire hard drive (check mark against Disk 1). Save the Backup (also called Image) to another hard drive, internal or external.
