ATIH 2011 and Windows 7: Takes FOREVER to validate after backup?
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with ATIH 2011, which I was informed was FULLY compatible by Acronis. When I have a backup set to validate automatically after creation, it backs up okay, but the validation says it will take 10+ hours to over a day. Obviously, this is a problem. If I stop the validation and do it manually, it takes about 30-35 minutes, which is normal for the amount of data I've backed up. I've also had this problem in ATIH 2009 and version 10.0. Those were both running with XP. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

Hi Guys
Im running TI 2011 on windows 7 home premium 64 bit and validates take between 30 mins to 1 hour depending on the back up so validation is running fine.
Just thought you might like to know as it doesnt seem a problem with Acronis (Makes a change!!) unless its corrupt someway? ,so you might want to look at other things.

Every time I've backed up with 2011, it's given me ridiculous messages about the validation time ("over 1 day"), and equally silly "not enough disk space" (this on a 40gb partition back up onto a clean 500gb drive !).
Every time there is an upgrade, something else seems to be broken.
I've had it. I'm looking for something else.

Funny that nobody commented your problem.
I installed ATIH 2012 and have daily backups done on a NAS for a week (5 TIB files as PC was turned off for the week-end)
I just tried to add to the backup task a weekly validation. It started automatically and is actually running; it tells me it will take 6 hours to validate a backup that is less than 40 Mb (it is only documents, no pictures, some PDF). And that is on a PC and an NAS that are both idle; no other activity...
Validating is as long, or even longer as doing the daily incremental backup.
It is not acceptable...
OK, I must remove my comment, or maybe make it less hard. The ATIH said it would take 6h, was very long to start, did not move for some time, but at one moment I got out of the room, maybe for an hour, and when I came back, the validation was completed.
It took in total more than one hour, which is still very long, but not the 6 hours initially posted by ATIH.
In the validation, if I am right, it just validates that the files are not corrupted, right? It does not compare with the live content of the disk that was backed up.
I know the files are on a NAS, not directly on the same C drive as original data or ATIH itself (it would be ridiculous), but I continue to think that over 1 h to validate 40Mb of data, even compressed, is very long.

I just quoted my own previous comment.
For me ATIH showed it would take 6h but in total took "only" over an hour (I am not sure of total time).
Is the validation supposed to be inserted in the backup log ?

Your right, that is a very lonf time for 40MB, normally i get 50GB validated in that amount of time, backing up to an eSata drive.
Im sure validation is put into the log, i know when TI emails me when a back up task is complete at the very bottom i can see that it says validation has been successful.
