Can True Image Home universal restore? How to backup OS?

Thread needs solution

How does one backup the operating system with True Image Home? Is it as simple as selected the operating system drive and deselecting "ignore system files"? Is there anything else one needs to do? Also, does True Image Home automatically include restore, ie, if I backup the operating system properly, can I restore on different hardware?

You can't jsut backup the operating system, then connections between drivers, programs and the OS system files and the registry is too intimate to untangle.

Your best bet for OSA backup is to do a disk or partition mode backup of the system partition/disk. That will capture everything and allow you to restore the system to a partition.disk.

To restore to different hardware you need to take into account that diff driver files need to be installed. You would need the Plus Pack to facilitate this. And you will need the driver files for thenew hardware. There are some other ways but it gets kind of convoluted.

Note that if your OS can with you PC, it is undoubtedly licensed for only the original machine and won't run on the new machine-- you won't be able to activate on the new hardware. So, in that case, you would have to buy another license for the OS.
