HD is disabled in BIOS but Acronis can still see it.

Thread needs solution

Computer is Dell Dimension 8400. It has 3 internal SATA drives one of which is disabled in BIOS. When I boot to OS (Windows XP) I only see 2 disks, as one would expect.

However, when I boot from Acronis bootable media (USB flash drive) Acronis sees all 3 hard drives. It can even see files on the drive disabled in BIOS - I can browse it to select backup file just as it was not disabled.

Can anyone explain how/why can Acronis do that?

Are you positive you see the disabled drive? The recovery CD shows drive letters that are different from what you see in Windows.

I am 100% positive. The disabled drive has unique label, different from the other 2.
