I have Windows 7 installed on my 1st disk in a 40GB partition with about 26GB free. If i want to install a 2nd copy of Windows 7 on this partition, does the OSS partition I have setup need to be more than 500MB for the protected files to be copied to it when one OS boots? I have never tried this feature in OSS and want to give it a shot.

Also, can Windows 7 and Windows XP be installed onto the same partition?

I would recommend against trying that feature. It can cause many problems including data loss. Definately make a backup image of the drive first.

The OSS partition's size doesn't matter. It can be quite small, say 150MB or so. The "protected" files will always be stored on the partition they belong to. Think of it as a "cut & paste" type of move. OSS just "moves" them to the BOOTWIZ folder and then "moves" them back. It's very quick this way. The problem is that it doesn't work all that well and you can end up with a system that won't work. I think the feature had more value in the DOS/Win9x days.

If you want to play around with it, go ahead. Just be aware of what's being done and behind the scenes.
