My Backup Drive is Filling Up Faster than I Can Handle

Thread needs solution

I have about 1TB of files backing up to a 2TB external drive. I created 5 different jobs: one for clients, one for photos, one for a specific project, etc.

I set my backups to run a full backup after every 3 incremental backups. However, nothing old is being deleted.

What do I need to do if I just want the most recent backups and not have the old data piling up on top of one another? Is there another backup method I should use or is there a setting that deletes old files? I was assuming that after every full backup the old stuff wouldn't be needed and would be automatically deleted.

You need to set up what you require...

Edit the task settings and near the bottom of the screen you will see "Backup Scheme: " Click on the highlighted item to the right and select your backup type. If you want to keep the last "n" full backups Select the "Turn on Automatic Cleanup" and use the "Store no more than "n" recent versions option as required. Any of the other settings you can also use - it depends on exactly what you want to do.

Note: The options for Automatic cleanup will change according to the backup type selected.

ATIH Should then remove the older ones as required.

Ah, I think where I messed up was I told it to do a full backup after every 3 incs but to delete version chains older than 4 days so it was creating two full versions rather than just one. I just changed them to do the same 1 full after 3 incs but to store no more than 1 version chain. So that should delete immediately after making the backup... at least I think.

Thanks
