Why does Acronis rename first backup?
I have two drives, the C drive and an additional one, both internal to my laptop. The C drive is the boot, the D is a faster SSD drive and has some programs installed and also data.
I simply want to back up my whole machine securely.
I started tonight backing up the D drive and gave the backup a name. However, Acronis renamed the backup to "My partitions."
When I next backed up the C drive, however, it did not attempt a rename and I have the label I created, "C drive."
I'm just concerned that there might be something special about "My Partitions." Does Acronis assume this is the boot drive which, in this case, it is not? Why was this name given rather than the one I selected?
Please generally advise on the best procedure for backing up my full machine as my main concern is to have a complete image available for restore should that be necessary. Thanks.

It you would read the question I asked you will see that I did exactly what you said but it named the
file "my partitions." So my question still needs an answer please.

JR,
It was not clear to me that you did what I suggest. Sorry.
Some users just enter the task name and then are surprised to see a different name for the TIB files. ATI can use a task name and a different naming scheme for the TIB files. If you choose the name for the TIB file in the destination selection, however, the task name is changed to reflect the same name. You can then change the task name if you want, but the naming scheme for the TIB files will not change.
Also, to be sure, when I said click on the destination, I was talking about clicking it from the backup options windows, not from the task list.

It coudl be that the ati database did not update properly until after you exited then renetered ATI. Call it a quirk of the program.
