How to access network folder using acronis bootable media?
Hi,
I am trying to recover my system using acronis bootable media. My backup data is located onto network and i am trying to map that network drive using option tools->A43tool->tool->map network drive but it is not showing wizard to map network drive. Is there any other way to map network drive.(I have created Windows PE based bootable media)
Thanks in advance.
Nankumar.

Hi, You might try this once you have your PC up and running again. I had this very same problem last year in trying to access backups across a home network. Despite having several different backup copies stored on various PCs on the network and each PC able to be seen outside of the Acronis rescue media install and each backed up across the network to networked PCs, I wasn't able successfully reinstall a disk using Acronis in this manner. Sometimes it would start install and get three quarters of the way through and then fall over due to one issue or another. One would think that if a backup is able to be written directly to a drive on a computer on the same network as the drive being backed up then it would be a simple process in reverse to do a recovery.
In the end, I removed the disk with ailing OS from the PC and installed it on a PC that had a backup image on it and then did the reinstall that way.
I always now have two identical drives in each critical PC carrying the OS. I get one installation up and running and then Acronis it onto the second identical drive. Since then when I have had an OS failure then it is just a matter of moving the SATA cables and rebooting. I do not trust Acronis to operate as expected as far as problem free rescue is concerned. All my data is on RAID on a couple of machines as well + DVD copies. I keep Acronis data backups as a last resort but don't depend on them to work.
