Failed to start Try&Decide

Thread needs solution

Wanted to install some new software on my Dell Windows7 Pro 64-bit machine so I setup Try&Decide to protect partitions C: and E: (D: is the DVD drive).
Tried to start it and received the unhelpful message
"Failed to start Try&Decide"
No additional information (is there a log somewhere?).

I can find no other references to this message and version 2012.

Hope someone has an answer.

Thanks - Clive

Hi Clive,

I had the same issue on my Dell, it turns out to be Dell's Data Safe. If you uninstall Data Safe Try&Decide should run as well as Non Stop Backup. Hope that works for you.

Unless you're using Dell's on-line backup service, the only purpose of Dell DataSafe is to create the Dell Recovery Discs, burned to DVD-R or USB. Once you've burned those disks or USB then, if you don't plan to use the on-line backup, you can safely uninstall Dell DataSafe. That's what I did.

Also, Dells come with a Recovery partition. Once you've installed applications and added your data, returning the drive to factory state isn't of great value. A more recent full disk image, using something like Acronis True Image, is more useful. If you do that, you can safely delete the Recovery partition to reclaim the space. You can always use the Dell Recovery Discs, or USB, to restore to factory state if you wanted.

Deleting the Recovery partition on my Dell reclaimed almost 20 GB of disk space.

Thanks all!
