So how can my backup be 110% - that's one hundred AND ten per cent - complete

Thread needs solution

Have had endless stability problems with 2012 - which seemed to have settled down after I got build 6154.

Now I am getting ridiculous completion messages at >100% and I end up with no idea when or if backups will ever complete. I do use validation. Does 110% complete mean that it is done with the backup and is 10% through the validation.

And whilst on this, why does validation take so long? What I'm assuming is that the validation is checking the integrity of the backup file (like winzip test does). However it looks as if Acronis is checking that the file in the backup is the same as the file on the disc. With the kind of file churn I have, particularly when messing with progs like lightroom, this kind of validation makes no sense. I just want to know that the file is okay and readable.

ATI validation works liek this. When the tib is made, checksums are embedded in the file every so many bytes. During validation, the file is read, new chcukcsums calculated and compared to the embedded cheksums. If there is a diff, then ati declares the tib invalid. since ati can backup while you are change the disk/partition being backed up, it can't compare to the actial source, so it uses this ersatz method of establishing fidelity by ensuring the file hasn't changed since being created.

The progress bar seemd to work reasonably well in build 6131. I don't validate often and generally do backups by schedule, so I don't see progress bars very often but I'm curious. RE validation progress, does it get to 200% when the validation is completed?
