Newbie pre-purchase question about TIH 2012

Thread needs solution

I own an Acer Predator desktop. If I want to backup, from disk0, only the system restore hidden partition, PLUS the MBR (f11 support to restore system), but no other data, is this possible? Essentially, I want to be able to turn a factory fresh HDD into a carbon copy of the HDD that shipped with this desktop.

Further, I have seen alot of posts about TIH overwriting the MBR when using certain tools, agents, etc. I want to maintain full control of my MBR so how could I get 100% assurance my MBR would not be overwritten?

Or am I over thinking this?

If you want a carbon copy of the factory disk, build a 2012 CD iso image, boot from the CD-ROM and run a 'clone' task from the factory disk to your carbon copy. I do this with all my machines 'out of the box' so that if any of my program installs screw-the-pooch, I can always revert back. To really get a virgin copy, you should download and build the ISO on another machine to avoid the install of 2012 on the machine that you are trying to clone.
