ATIH 10.0 Rescue CD and Drive Letters
I want to understand this BEFORE I have to do a restore on one of my HDDs. This is my system:
WinXP SP2
ATIH 10.0.0.4942
Windows drive letters:
HDD - System C:
HDD - Data D:
DVD - DVD-RW E:
DVD - DVD Drive F:
HDD - USB External G:
When I boot with the rescue CD the drive letters are reassigned like this:
HDD - System C:
HDD - USB External D:
HDD - Data E:
DVD - DVD-RW F:
DVD - DVD Drive G:
When I run an image verify I have to select drive D: to locate the image files. Verify reports the image files are good so there are no problems there.
I've not had to run a restore on Windows Data D: drive yet, but what if I have to? ATIH finds the image files on ATIH USB External D: and the image data says it's going to restore to drive D:. Is this a Catch-22? I haven't had the courage to test the restore past the point where I select the image file to restore because I don't want to screw with my working system. Do I select the image files on the USB drive D: and restore them to Data E:?
Any information is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

I apologize, I guess I wan't clear in descibing my drive letter assignments. Each drive DORS have a unique name: System, Data, DVD-RW, DVD Drive. Still and all I still don't know how to safely restore image files from the USB External that the rescue disk identifies as drive D: to my data drive that Windows identifies as drive D:. Do I have a choice during restore to tell the rescue environment to restore image files from D: to E:?
Like I said, I don't want to screw up my working system. I'd rather get some information from someone who has had to do an actual restore.

Mike:
Ignore the drive letters - they are meaningless. If you have an image of your Data partition and want to restore it to your Data partition, just match up the names. In following the restore wizard, you would select the partition named "Data" as the source, and you would select the partition named "Data" as the destination.
