Disk Full Error When Trying To Delete
I have a backup that I scheduled to run nightly.
Recently, I started getting an error that the disk is full.
So, I went to Explore and Recover and tried to delete the oldest version of the backup.
It took most of the day to get less than half way through the deletion and then I got another Disk Full error message.
The attached PDF file has screen clippings of the error message I got while the deletion was in progress as well as an error message that I got before I responded to the Disk Full error. It also contains a screen shot of the backup folder where I store the backups. There is about 140 Gb of free space on that disk.
I have trouble in the past when the disk gets full and my solution has been to simply wipe out the whole backup and start over. But I would much rather that ATIH take care of this on its own. I guess I don't understand how to configure the backup so that it automatically deletes old backups when the disk fills up.
Thanks,
John

I suspect this is a file system wonk.
First thing to try is rebooting the system to see of windows can straighten out any possible file system error that is locking a file.
The try manual deletion as Pat suggested.
IF that doesn't work, then create a file with notepad or any other text editor and give it the same name as the file you want to delete but save it in a diff place. Backup this new file and then restore it to the location of the file you want to delete (this should force ntfs to update the meta data so that the file can again be handled normally). Then try manual deletion.
The worst damage these steps might cause is to delete the file you want to delete.
Afterward you can delete the text file you made, it's purpose served.

It's a Version Chain backup
It's supposed to delete backups older than 6 months.
I will try manual deletion of oldest chain.
Thank you, Pat.
