Completely wrong mail notifications in build 17437

Thread needs solution

Can anybody reproduce this? I'm suspecting that logging and mail notification is seriously broken in the newest beta 17437.

I have configured a GFS Scheme to a storage node. Every machine is set up to notify by mail if the backup fails or produces warnings.

Now two things happen:
I have backups failing, but not sending mail notifications. They show up in the logs as "Completed with warnings", with the warning being "Task aborted". No Backup shows up on the Storage Node. So I have a failure and the logs are wrong AND the notification does not work.

Curiously, since I started testing, successful backups actually DO sent a failure notification! Something like this:

1 Information 02.04.2012 11:08:17 Befehl 'Backup' wird ausgeführt.
2 Information 02.04.2012 11:08:19 Analysierende Partition '1-0'...

10 Information 02.04.2012 11:15:08 Befehl 'Backup' wurde erfolgreich abgeschlossen.
Task 'Tägliches Backup' ist fehlgeschlagen auf Maschine 'BCHLAP-11'.

The funny thing is - there is NO error in the logs, the backup shows up on the storage node, so this notification is completely wrong.

Does anybody have notifications, is testing build 17437 and can reproduce?

Hello Heiko,
I can confirm that i get emails for "Failed Tasks" for some backups that when i look in the management server, there is no log of the error, and it shows a backup in my vault. I get an email for every backup at this point, failed or successful. The example below is from a simple backup of a network folder (about 10GB of data).

1 Information 4/1/2012 10:00:09 PM Command 'Backing up' is running.
2 Information 4/1/2012 10:00:48 PM Create Full Backup

Me, too.

I have backups scheduled. They run. And, I get an email for each backup plan that says "Failed". The email notification doesn't give any indication of what failed. In fact, every line in the email notification looks fine.

I can see backups in my vault. I have done a couple of test restores of a folder - the restore works, the data is there. But the email said "Fail" :-(

However, if you look at (at least, in my case) the individual backup plan, you do get to see the errors. On the bottom pane on the right, the first tab is "Error Details". I see some errors there. Now, I don't know if these errors are what causes the email notification to say "Fail", but it might be a place to start looking.

Hi all,

Thank you for reporting about the issue. I've checked with the development team: we do not have any known issues that would match your description. So the situation requires investigation.

Could you please send us

  1. Exact sequence of steps performed
  2. Acronis Info

This data should shed the light to the situation.

Let us know if you need any assistance, we'll help.

Thank you.

First of all, Heiko, I'm sorry if I hijacked your thread.

Update for my situation:
I made a change to one of my scheduled plans, and today, the email notification I got was "success". (I removed the DRP plan email option) I'm going to do this for the rest of my backup plans and see if I can get all "success" emails.

I have had this happen at several customers with build 318 and the latest buildl 437. I have made acronis very aware of this issue. In my case I don't have any DRP email notifications yet it will send a "FAILED" notice every day and when I check i find it ran the job fine. Very frustrating to work with this almost BETA software.

Hi,

I'm suffering from the same issue... only after uncecking the DRP mail, the backup works...
