Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 Advanced workstation and Symantec PGP

Thread needs solution

Hi every one.

I hope you can help me. I have a client that uses Symantec's PGP to encrypt the hard drives of their laptops, and the also use ABR 11.5 to back them up. They do the sector by sector backup using the acronis bootable media and it finish successfull. And then they restore that image on a new hard drive on the same laptop, it finish successfull as well, but when they try to boot the laptop it send an error message.

Do you know something abount PGP and Acronis, any special steps to follow to recover that image?

Thanks

According to http://kb.acronis.com/content/1649 (one of 3 articles found by 'pgp') this scenario may fail (If the encryption key is based on the hard drive or some hardware serial numbers, ... ). It's recommended to create backup in live system - it will create the backup of decrypted disk. It also may fail - see http://kb.acronis.com/content/2991 - unless some measures are taken. In Backup & Recovery starting from version 11 this file (PGPWDE01) is excluded from backup automatically, but boot loader must be restored separately.
