Acronis doen't recognize tape without inventory
Hi,
I had another topic here, but I have come to some new Information.
To the Problem:
Our Tape Backup stops at 19% and asks for a tape to continue. All Tapes are inventoried, but are "offline". If I do a quick Inventory the Tape, which is inside the TapeDrive, will become "online" and I can click "ok" on the Error Message and the Backup starts fine. If I don't do the Inventory Step, the Error Message will not close unless I Cancel the Job.
Can someone help me, to get to the right answer, how this is possible? I think it is, since Version 11.7, but I'm not shure. I already have deleted the files, where the Tape Informations are stored on the system and had re-inventoried all tapes, but no Changes.
The only problem seems to be, that all tapes are offline, even if you insert one into the TapeDrive.
Thanks,
Daniel

Hi,
we are using Build 11.7.44421. Is Build 50058 the new SP1?
And yes, it is a Ultrium LTO-3.

Yes, 50058 is the latest update/SP. It was released last week.

Hi Dan,
It's a known issue since v11.7 came out, existing since version 44421. Acronis continually claim to be solved, yet so far 50058 and 50214 have not fixed the issue despite Release Notes saying otherwise. A minute of quality assurance/testing prior to release would prove this.
There is a workaround though.
Setup a scheduled task via Task Scheduler with the following ACTION:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\CommandLineTool\acrocmd.exe"
Arguement: inventory tape
Set that to run about an hour or two before your tape backup kicks off, and you should be sweet.
Be careful upgrading to 50058 if you have Exchange Mailbox backups, because it'll screw that up as well.
