Moving to Linux
Hello all,
I work in a manufacturing company and I use Acronis Backup 11.5 to backup our engineers' laptops, manufacturing machine PC's, and etc. I manage all of these machines on a desktop computer running Windows 7 that is getting more and more unreliable each day. I am contemplating switching over to a Linux operating system to gain some stability as I only want to run Acronis to manage my backup plans and etc. How plausible is this? If so, can I re-use my current license or do I need to buy a new one for the linux server? The current Windows 7 machine with the management server has a Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for PC license.
Thanks

I have another question. I need to backup my linux machines remotely. I have a Windows 7 machine running my AMS. Is it possible to backup those linux machines with my current Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for PC software? I'm reading the installation documentation about installing the linux agent, but I cannot find the download link for the Linux install files under "My Products and Downloads" as this documentation suggests. https://kb.acronis.com/content/22839. My support for these licenses ran out about a year ago, could that be why i'm not seeing the linux downloads?

Hello Joshua,
Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for PC supports backup only of Windows-based OS. The full list of supported OS you can find here.
Thank you,

Ok. With my current setup consisting of a Windows 7 PC acting as my AMS running Acronis Backup Advanced Version 11.5 Update 6, how would I go about adding Linux machines? Would I need to upgrade my Windows 7 PC to a different product version? What license would you reccommend for a linux workstation for an advanced version that supports deduplication and universal restore? Sorry for the 20 questions, i'm just trying to understand.

Hello Joshua,
We don't currently have a "Linux workstation" type of license. All Linux systems are considered servers by our product.
So you will need to have an Acronis Advanced for Linux Server type of license.
