Problem using my "home" tib with server.
Hi guys,
I had a problem with a hard disk at work that I took home to take a full backup of. It was on its last legs and I managed to get it seen by my Windows 7 machine at home and when it coughed into life, I took a full image backup of it using Acronis Home.
I've now got my replacement hard disk and am attempting to restore the image but the Server bootable recovery media tells me that my tib I made is not a valid backup archive. I then tried the Home bootable recovery media and that said my tib was of a server OS and I should use Acronis Server.
From a bit of research I understand that Acronis do this on purpose despite the fact that all files are called *.tib and that there is no inter-operability. Is this true? What can I do with my tib of a Server OS taken with Acronis Home? I don't mind having to convert it, or even doing something as long winded as restoring the tib as a VM and taking a new backup of it with Acronis Server. But as of right now, I can't get either version to co-operate with my tib. Please help.
Thanks,
Adam.

I used Home 2010 and Server v11 I believe. Versions around those sorts of numbers at least.
I'll try this SOS version, is there a direct link for the bootable media image? I can't see it obviously on that page.
Thanks for your help,
Adam

I'm not sure if there is a .iso download link for trial users. You may try to download a trial ( or trial of True Image 2013 , which , IIRC, doesn't care if the image has Server OS inside) install it and create bootable media.

There is a compatibility pattern in using Acronis Products. It is true that all Acronis products create .tib files but these .tib files are not universal and cannot be used by all Acronis Products.
The image taken by Acronis product for PC, Workstation or Home will only work with the Upgraded versions of its parent product (product which created the Backup file.)
This thing is applicable for both disk level and file level backups.
If you will try to restore the files using bootable media then the bootable media may wipe out the data exist on the target hard drive. As it performs the recovery operation on complete disc. It does not perform copy paste.
