Protect Acronis Management Server Question

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

I have a Customer just using Acronis backup advanced 11.5 Server on windows server 2012R2, which is a phyical server. They would like to protect the Acronis Management Server if it is failed.
I tried to backup the server but the backup plan said that agent for sql is not installed on single-pass.
How can i protect it? Do i need one more license for SQL?

Best Regards,

Arev

Hello Arev,

Single-pass SQL backup is only needed if you want to specifically protect the the SQL instance as a seperate entity. It allows you granular restoration of SQL databases, restoration on another instance, DB mounting and other functionality a DBA might need.

In case you want to protect the AMS server as a whole for DR purposes, a regular disk image will contain a consistent copy of the DB which will be restored during the system restoration. So you can simply disable the single-pass functionality and no extra SQL licenses are required.

Hello Igor Tkachev,

Your information is very helpful. Thank you very much.
