Starting new Differential backup of Windows server, stuck at 0 bytes/s

Thread needs solution

Good day all,

I'm starting up a new Differential backup, I've configured the settings that I would like to have and targeted a 2 TB backup drive via usb to be the target.

It has been running for 20 minutes. It started and quickly hit 20% but has since stalled. I am seeing in Details that there are 0 bytes/s on the backup and 0 bytes backed up.

Please help. I have 12 days left on the trial. I am not happy thus far with acorns.

Hi Jordon,

Just to let you know if it started the backup but the bytes were not rolling yet it's more than likely creating a snapshot on the server, if you have heavy load or large databases (eg, SQL, Exchange, Sharepoint..etc) some servers can take some time to commit changes to disk and create a secure snapshot before the backup actually starts to run..

If you like you can check the Windows event logs (VSS events) as you can get a good idea what databases and/or applications are taking a long time to snapshot and if your server is running on single HDD's you can look at how fragmented the HDD might be and also check the free RAM and HDD space to see if you can improve performance if needed.

All the best!
