Update and new installation fails at Management Console

Thread needs solution

Hi,

we tried to update on one of our clients with Acronis Backup for PC 11.5 installed to the newest build 43994. Installation fails while installing the Management Agent. Removing Acronis Backup by cleanup utility (KB40365) and fresh installation does not help - same error message. Of course we disabled AntiVirus software by uninstalling and rebooting the computer before we updated or installed Acronis.

We searched for the problem at your forum and knowledgebase and of course we found some articles concerning installation problems of the Management Console, but none of the answers helped us with our problem.

Hello Falko,

Could you please double check the following registry value?

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Virtual Infrastructure Client\PluginsPath

If the PluginsPath value is empty, this would explain the error. Please put the correct path here (default should be C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Plugins\)

Problem solved!

The PluginsPath value was empty indeed. I put the correct path there and now installation works fine.
