Applying retention rules - Internal error in library

Thread needs solution

Hello,

using Backup 12 to backup SQL server instance on one server. Backing up on network share and using replication to Acronis cloud.

I had change the backup schedule recently and I am using full backup on Friday evening and during working days running incremental backup on hourly basis Mon-Fri 8AM-6PM.

For some time all worked ok, but recently every incremental backup finishes with warning "Applying retention rules - Internal error in library. The linked position is unknown."

Is it related to the change of the backup schema and there are some leftover links in the backup destination?

Any idea?

My version of the server is 12.0.3622, web console 12.0.2607 and management console 12.0.6081.

Thank you

Hi Pavel,

The problem is related to SQL/Exchange type of backups located in Acronis Cloud and the message you get during cleanup is a known problem (internal ID: ARCHII-180). The only known workaround is to create a new backup plan with 2nd destination replication setting which will enforce new archive creation in cloud. The final fix is planned for the middle of this year (no final date yet though)

The problem starts to occur under the following conditions: in some cases when saving backup to Acronis Cloud was interrupted/cancelled - the data "leftovers" from this cancellation are causing the issue.

Thank you.
