[Solved] Application aware backup MS SQL-Server 2014 Express
Hi,
tried to setup a backup plan using Application Aware Backup for MS SQL-Servers and getting an error.
After supplying credentials AB12 queries the SQL-Server it responds with a SOAP-Error:
SOAP 1.1 fault: "":ServerFaultCode[no subcode]
"Ein angegebener Parameter war nicht korrekt: "
Detail: <InvalidArgumentFault xmlns="urn:vim25" xsi:type="InvalidArgument"></InvalidArgumentFault>Error code 0x0224001F+0x02240004+0x0004000A+0x0053008B+0x00530128
OS: Windows Server 2012 R2 in VMware VM
SQL: MS SQL-Server 2014 Express (non-default instance)
Domain Admin credentials given, can connect to a Windows Server 2008 R2 / SQL-Server 2008 Std using the same settings.
Thanks!

Hi Vasily,
UAC is enabled in guest, but the Domain Admin credentials should be able to elevate commands (it works that way in other VMs). Same happens when UAC is disabled.
%temp% path doesn't contain any symbols (in user's folder) and permissions are given to full access. It is also recreated properly when guest reboots.
VMware-Tools are present and running, Version 10249 (latest).
Will contact your support team.
Thanks!

Just a status update.
Acronis support is working on case 02783605.
Some more infos, have tried different configurations:
- same error on Windows Server 2012 R2 ENU
- Activated vs. non activated Windows
- AB12 MgmtServer on Windows Server 2012 R2 ENU + DEU
- vCenter Server rebooted
- Guest VM (target VM with SQL-Server) several reboots
- Reinstall of VMware-Tools (and reboot)
- Update to Acronis Backup 12 #3596

Customer Support has reported back and solved this issue.
In my case the VM-config was wrong. The Guest OS was set to "Windows Server Threshold" instead of "Windows Server 2012" for a Windows Server 2012 R2 installation. This seems to be handled by VMware in a different way on different Guest OS settings.
VMware KB says something related correctly: https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2069889
Thanks!
