12.5 fails to detect applications on virtual machine

Hi Acronis,

I tried to detect the applications of two virtual machines but this fails with:

 

VMware Tools is unavailable. It is probably not installed.

This is simply wrong. Both vms are successfully running with the latest vmware tools.

The second machine now behaves a little bit different: The detection simply completes with no error and returns to the "enter credentials" state.

Some more information: I restarted vmware tools on the first machine and now it behaves like the second. Detection returns with no error (and empty results).

Next I tried to enable application backup in the backup plan (AD and SQL). Now I got an error that the user is not a domain admin. I entered another user but the result is always the same. Then I had a look at event log. There's an event from source VGAuth which shows 

vmtoolsd: Username and password successfully validated for 'domain\user'

The user was not updated and still used the credentials from the detection. So I went back to detection and entered the correct user. Detection still does not show any results but now I was able to enable application backup.

Hi,

Having the same problem. I'm not able to connect to AD app backup using Administrator credentials only on the VM detected by the Appliance.

Error: The specified user does not have enough rights to create an application-aware backup. User Account Control is enabled in the guest system and this user is not a built-in administrator.

If I manually install the agent and supply the same credentials, it connects.

What could be wrong ? I'll try to disable UAC but as I know it's already disabled by default for built-in administrative accounts like Administrator.
