iOS Backup from Acronis Backup 12.5 Management Console?

Thread needs solution

Currently backing up assorted Windows and Mac laptops from Acronis Backup 12.5 Management Console. Clean, efficient, wonderful visibility, two thumbs up.

We have users moving to iOS exclusively, for example, an iPad Pro is their only machine. We would love to backup these user-critical iOS devices in the same manner as the laptops, using one Workstation License per iOS device.

It appears this is not possible at present, as the iOS client backup up only to Acronis Cloud. I'm looking for guidance, tips, and even a roadmap.

Hi Bruce,

There are the following options to cover the scenario:

1) For these mobile-only users you can use Acronis Mobile product which supports backing up iPads and other devices to local computer over wi-fi networks - see documentation topic.

The drawback from this approach is that these backups will have to be managed individually, so there will be no data about these mobile apps in Acronis Backup 12.5 management console

2) An alternative more complicated option is to get Acronis Backup Cloud product from one of our partners. Acronis Backup Cloud allows to store mobile devices backup data on partner-hosted storage instead of Acronis Cloud storage and this partner-hosted storage can be physically placed in your environment upon agreement with the partner (that's one of the initial setup options). The mobile devices support in Acronis Backup Cloud is practically the same as in Acronis Backup 12.5 (see link), with the difference in backend used when you save backups to cloud. In case Acronis Backup 12.5 - it's always Acronis Cloud, while with Acronis Backup Cloud - it could be partner-hosted storage.

P.S. In future versions we are planning to add an ability to store mobile backups data to on-premise storage directly by Acronis Backup product, however this likely won't happen until the next version of Acronis Backup (pending for next year), so there is no exact ETA I can provide right now.

Thank you.

Thanks for the prompt and comprehensive reply, much appreciated.

Option 1 is a reasonable solution for the time being. QUESTION: does the Acronis Mobile product for iOS produce .tib files that I can browse from a properly equipped/licensed Windows machine? I am thinking of the all-too-common scenario where I need to 'rescue' a single file from a backup.

Cheers,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

Yes, granular file recovery from backups saved from Acronis Mobile app to some Windows computer is possible through Acronis True Image installed on this machine - see link.

P.S. Note that browsing these backups by Acronis Backup 12.5 is not possible - only Acronis True Image has support for that.

Thank you.
