Protect acronis Catalog, storage node definitions and everything else.
Hello friends. I want to know what is the correct mechanism and best practices to protect my Acronis 12.5 environment, with protect I mean store backup history, catalog, storage node definitions, so that in case of product reinstall everything can work smoothly again with no information loss.
Thank you.

Thanks for your response, regading AMS and catalog service, if I understand correctly: I could use the same Acronis solution to back it up the virtual machine where it resides, otherwise If I lose my AMS/catalog service How can I restore correctly my Acronis machine backup without having it?

Hi Harold,

The backup archives stored in backup locations are independent from AMS/catalog services and are always available for recovery even if AMS/catalog is lost. In this case you can install new AMS, install new backup agent, and simply browse the backups in their old places. The exception from this rule are backups stored in locations managed by Acronis Storage Node service (ASN) which would require re-adding them to newly installed ASN (see "Adding a managed location" - it's the same process for new and existing backup locations).
P.S. You don't need Catalog service to browse, list and search for files/folders/application items within specific backups (recovery points). Catalog is useful when you don't know which backup (which time stamp) needs to be restored and you need to find all available versions of particular file/folder within existing backups.
Thank you.
