Hi.

I have a problem in trial of Acronis Backup 12.5.

I'm using external HP LTO7 drive for backup and it's well detected from HP utility with tape inserted in it as attached file, LTT.jpg.

But as you can see in other 3 files - Tape1.jpg, Tape2,jpg, Tape3.jpg - Acronis Backup has showing as tape drive empty, backup tape(Backup1 is tape name) is offline, when try to mount tape there is no Backup1 tape showing in list box.

So I can't backup/restore with this status from Acronis Backup console.

I tried reboot system, turn on and off tape drive but same problem.

Please let me know solution for this situation.

Thanks.

Here is some update which I tried more...

When I check the installer, there was not included "Storage Node" component in install so I included and installed this component

After this, I created "Tape Backup" pool under this node and moved previous backup to this new pool which is about 226GB of backup data stored.

With the tape inserted in LTO7 drive, I done inventory scan and the console finally showing as the tape is in the drive.

And I tried some backup with new backup job but after 12% of progress, this job stop with the message, "Can't find tape for backup".

Tried Eject & reinsert tape in LTO7 drive but this job not doing with this interaction required message and I can't doing backup. (Restore job too)

Please see screen capture attached;

First screen shot showing the backup job hold with "Can't find tape for backup" message as Korean.

And other screen shot showing tape inserted status in LTO7 drive.

So how can I make the Acronis Backup 12.5 recognize the backup tape that in the drive to make it start backup/restore?

Hello, first of all, Mount operation relates to tape libraries and allows to mount a tape into specified drive or slot. I recommend you to perform Inventory operation any time when you insert a tape into device.

Form the Tape management UI move the tape into the Free pool and re-start backup. A tape will be taken from Free pool automatically and overwritten.

Hi, Andrey.

Thanks for your answer.

By the way, I must need to get restored the previous Acronis Backup performed backup data in this tape.

I never predicted this kind of backup software malfunctioning which support tape drive backup and deleted those backup data after I see Acronis Backup performed the backup normally.

Would you please let me know how can I restore those backup data in the tape before reuse it by overwrite?

And if this problem not solved then I think I can't use Acronis Backup anymore after trial period over because anytime I will lose my backup data in tape as Acronis Backup will unavailable to mount/recognize the previous backup tapes...

Do you see the previously created backup in the UI? If not, then if you have successfully created and not corrupted backup on tape, I suggest to perform Rescan operation. This will read the tape and add all found info in the software DB. You will see the backups on tape and able to recover from them.

Hi.

Update for more trial that I done during the wait of answer as below; (Now there is other problem)

- Uninstall Acronis Backup

- Reinstall with Storage Node component selected

- After reinstall completed, inserted previous backup tape in LTO7 drive and done inventory & rescan tape

- Tape showing in Acronis pool as new tape but I can see the previous backup at Backups -> Locations -> Acronis

- I choose this backup and click Recover Files/Folders button but the error popup as below,

The storage node cannot access backups created in an unmanaged location.
    Error code 2140

It seems I need to set access permission to my previous backup but I don't know where I can doing this..

Please let me know the method to make the backup accessible from new installed Storage Node.

Thanks.

Hi, seems like there is an issues due to the initially backup was done on local machine, but after was rescanned to the centralized location (after Storage Node installation). We will check the case in our test lab and fix in the next updates.

For now, I suggest you to delete the Storage Node component if you want to recover from this backup. To do it, run the Setup program again, choose Modify installed components and uncheck Storage Node from the list.

If you want to keep using Storage Node, install it and configure new backups on central location/pool.

Hi, Andrey.

I removed the Storage Node via installation package and then I'm now able to access previous backup and started restore backup files in original location.

I will doing backup again with Storage Node reinstalled after all restore done.

Thank you for your helps :)
