ABR11 Update 0 finally loaded. Data catalog process hangs forever at 10%

Thread needs solution

After many failed attempts, ABR11.17311 has finally loaded and is running reasonable well. I did the install as an update over top of ABR10.13762, on my Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit laptop. One problem I am having is with the data catalog process hanging at a very low 5% or 10% level for hours and hours on end. It's a local vault that is being cataloged. Seems that the first archive in the vault is being locked onto by the "service_process" and then everything with exception of the elapsed time in the activity viewer just stops. The size of the archive selected is a total of 7.5GB so it seems that size should not be the issue here, especially for 13 hours on a Core i7, 8GB machine.

Has anybody else having this issue?

Matter is resolved!!!

After reading a number of forum comments, I got the impression that the vault structure for ABR11 differs from that of the older ABR10. Outside of the plan XML files being renamed to something more sensible and the presence of the Catalog directory and its contents, I can't say how much more different it is. Assuming there was more, I said nuts to the plans and data brought over from ABR10 and deleted them all. I rebuilt the vaults and the plans in ABR11 and subsequently redid all the backups. Voila! All worked without a hitch!

That does it from here on out. Any newer major update of ABR should be as a clean install, no more update over top of.
