acronis-glibc-compat ERROR: Installing Acronis B&R Server v10.0.12708 on Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) Linux, daily build
Hi, I'm getting an error message saying the acronis-glibc-compat is missing when I try to install AcronisAgentLinux.i686. This occurs after verification of the license, but before the installer even attempts to create a SNAPAPI module.
I'm testing Ubuntu 11.04 amd64 for my department. This is a pre-release daily build of Ubuntu. The final release of Ubuntu 'Natty' is due for release in a month's time. The current Ubuntu Natty build runs on Linux kernel 2.6.38-7, which is almost the newest kernel published at kernel.org. My Acronis B&R Server v10.0.12708 (which I bought out of my own pocket) came with the relevant Windows Software as well as five i686 scripts/packages for a Linux box:
AcronisAgentLinux.i686
AcronisBootableComponentsMediaBuilderLinux.i686
AcronisDeduplicationLinux.i686
AcronisLicenseServer.msi
AcronisManagementConsoleLinux.i686
AcronisUpgradeToolLinux.i686
Can anyone please help me with this? Or will I just need to wait until Acronis supports the new Ubuntu Natty release?
Thanks in advance,
Daniel,

Thanks for getting back to me Anton,
I do have the 32-bit libraries (ia32-libs) installed and gcc is 64 bit (gcc -dumpmachine gives x86_64-linux-gnu). I've attached my sysinfo report. My product support expired 2 months ago and there does not seem to be an email option on the website for me anymore. Although, I'm testing the new Ubuntu, I'm just using this Acronis product to backup a home computer. The product cost me almost $1800 a year ago. Can you help me any further with this issue?
Kind regards,
Daniel

Hi,
I've got the same problem. I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 natty i686 (32-bits).
It's not an pre-release or beta. It's the latest official release.
My system complies to all requirements and on all other servers I'm not experiencing any problems (I've installed the Acronis client when the Ubuntu versions were lower than 11.04).
I've tested the Acronis client on: Ubuntu 9.04, 9.10, 10.04 and 10.10 and on all these platforms I was able to install it without any problems.
When you install Acronis on one of these versions and then upgrade to 11.04 you won't have any trouble. Installing the Acronis client directly on Ubuntu 11.04 will fail... It seems the Acronis client is not compatible with this version of Ubuntu...
Since I'm experiencing the problem on a critical system that cannot be downgraded I'll have to wait until this issue is resolved (either by using a new Acronis version of waiting for new Ubuntu upgrades).
But if there is someone that can help me with this... Perhaps I can use some alternative packages or some other fix...
Thanks for the effort!
Best regards,
Martin Hofman

Fixed in build 13762 .....
This problem is apparently fixed with the latest installer - backuprecoveryserverlinux.13762_s_en.i686
After downloading this update from the acronis site I was able to install the product on ubuntu natty 11.04. The normal linux prerequisites still apply.
apt-get install rpm build-essential linux-source linux-headers-`uname -r` ia32-libs
Then run backuprecoveryserverlinux.13762_s_en.i686 and the install completes successfully.
If the binary doesn't run, check the file length. I encountered a problem today where my download was cancelled unexpectedly (without an error) and the file was truncated. After re-trying the download I was finally able to get the entire binary.
