Another build antother failure - will it ever work?

Thread needs solution

After recent case (00299852) [ ref:00D3Zcb.500576tCs:ref ]I was advised to wait for a new build, and was left with a half (or rather 30% - file backups not working, pre/post commands not working, and backups not shown in vaults archive, bare metal restore not even tested!!) working program till the new version is released. So recently after the 11133 build was published I decided to give it a try, and updated.

First the storage node was updated, everything went well the storage node did update automatically with no problems (there were some problems an I had to manually update from 10287 to 11105). AMS did connect to the storage node with no problems, almost all backups were seen as they should (http://forum.acronis.com/forum/4508).

Then I updated a workstation with Management Console - also everything as it should work.

So I did a update on the main server. The software requested to restart the server, but because it was in working time the reboot was postponed. I did try to run a backup plan to see if everything was still working and everything appeared to work as it should. (but pre/post commands still not working).

I planed to restart the server today before everyone comes to work. The was one backup planed for the night.

Today when I connected my server to restart it as planed I noticed that the backup planed for 2am has failed. The management console claims that it can connect to the vault with the error "Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this compute". In AMS everything works as it should. Guess what. Installation created a NEW user, that of course did not have the log on as service rights. So I've added the user the required rights, and reloged (after gpupdate /force) to apply the settings.

But still no access to the Vault on the storage node. So I applied the updated group policy to the second server and rebooted both. Still no Vault on the storage node on machine management but can access form asm. Then i Have found out that for some reason the server was disconnected from ASM, so I removed and attached it again. Hurray!!! I can see the vault again, but wait where are last backups??? Besides the last FULL described earlier (http://forum.acronis.com/forum/4508) now I can't see last differential and last full backup of my data!!! What??? After a moment all data backups were gone (that 10 backups)!!! And I did access them yesterday before the update. Great, so I'm once again left with 1 full two weeks old backup.

Ok lets try to backup. Guess what.... NOT WORKING. "Please check the backup archive password that is specified in the task script." - I've check 100 times now nothing works, and I stop to care any more.

I don't have the time to spend half a day everyday to check if everything works with the automated backup solution. I don't have time to wait, and explain every expert that is contacting me what is wrong. I don't have time to install and use third-party application to accomplish tasks that I should have in this commercial product.

So I the situation is not going to change soon, and things don't start to work as they should, then I want to now how to get my company's money back so I can purchase another solution.

[UPDATE]
I am able to create backups, but not to the archives that I was using before 11133, when backing up to newly created archive everything seams to work as before the update (so i have disk backups, no file backups, no pre/post commands, and I'm loosing backups in archives), when using old archives I get a password error.

Hello Marcin Norek,

Thank you for using Acronis Corporate Products

Could you please provide us with the exact error message? Have you protected the archives with a password?

Thank you.

Yest archives are password protected and encrypted.
The error message was (as already written in the first post):
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Log Entry Details
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Type: Error
Date and time: 2009-10-07 07:42:06
Backup plan: DATA_DIFF_Disk
Task: Differential backup
Code: 66 554(0x103FA)
Module: 1
Owner: mwm-
Message:
Please check the backup archive password that is specified in the task script.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But the password was exact the same as before (the backup plans were not changed when the update was performed) , and I've even checked a dozen times to be sure - reentered after the first error, used it to access the archive from vaults navigation, explored backups with windows explorer addon - everything worked but not in backup plans.

Hello Marcin Norek,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

Please remove the old backup plan and create a new one by means of the current build and see if the issue persists. It looks like the old backup plan has been corrupted during the update procedure.

Thank you.

Hi,
with true image echo the live was easy. With ABR10 11133 I am not able to restore an image of my boot C:\ partition. First during defining the restore plan abr10 tells my that I have no MBR on my disk which is definitively wrong I am working with this MBR. After starting to restore my c:\ boot partition
error 11'863'304(0XB50508) Backup-Recovery engine fails Code 2, Module 218 line info 600f7166ce397ef2 fields .....MMS.exe. I am working with WINXP SP3 and 2TB HD from Hitachi. Is there really a way to restore an image online successfully. BARTPE also didn't work (cannot connect to local host). With the Boot CD my raid 1 complex from Promise TX4660 is not recognized. So many things are not working. Had the developer really the time to test their code !!

Hello Toni,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

Could you please provide us with the entire log file of the failed operation? You should find the appropriate log item and select Save all to the file option. You can learn more on how to do it in User Guide for Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server available here (chapter 6.1.3).

Your Promise controller should work with Acronis Booting Rescue Media (kernel 2.6) in RAID 1. Have you tried the ISOLINUX version of Acronis CD?

We have implemented the possibility to download the appropriate ISO file after logging in to your account (the serial number should be registered). Please log in to your account, go to the Registered products section -> Bootable media. Download the file.

You can find more information on how to burn an ISO image to a CD here and here

Please see your another thread concerning the BartPE issue.

Thank you.
