Backup and Recovery, Universal Restore fails on HP Proliant ML350

Thread needs solution

I have an old HP ML350 G3 that I'm trying to replace with an HP ML350 G6. I have followed all instructions to create a backup of the old server. I have made a boot disk with the Universal restore, however when I run the recovery on the new server it fails at the same point. I have reinstalled, updated the software, re made the boot media, checked the drivers from the HP website, had 2 online chat sessions with Acronis, but can not resolve this problem. The chat sessions were frustrating as both people I spoke to were unable to tell me what the error codes were that I gave them from the log.
If any one can help me they were:
Error code: 2|Module: 218|LineInfo: 600f7166ce397df5
Error code: 200|Module: 29|LineInfo: 2cd415774a6dc389
Error code: 65520|Module: 0|LineInfo: bd28fdbd64edb8bc|Fields: code : 2147942413
The recovery always fails at 75%.
I have been waiting for Acronis to come back to me, but have not had any luck yet and am getting desperate as I need to replace the old server urgently.

The restore suceeds, but then I can't boot the server. Reading through other forum items someone else had a similar problem with an HP server, it's suggested that it is the drivers that are causing the problem. The drivers I've used are the latest ones from HP & are in .inf format

I sent the log files to Acronis on 08/04/11, haven't had a reply back. I chased it up yesterday but still nothing.

Hello Amanda and dev-anon,

Thank you for your posts and your help.

Amanda, I apologize for the delay. I have forwarded your case to our Management team so that we do not delay you any further.

If you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.

After speaking to several more people at Acronis and insisting the case is escalated I am told:
"We have currently a problem with media on Windows based operating system, for example WinPE 3.0 media builder does not properly add drivers during the recovery process, that's why this error message appears. " Why couldn't the first 3 people at Acronis tell me this?
I have now made a Linux bootable media disc & used this. However I had to do the restore several times before it would eventually work. When it did work it did not make available all the disc space on the new server. I followed Acronis instructions to do so when restoring - ie go back into the drive destination & change the size of the disc. But no matter what I did it only ever used the same space as was on the original server. So, after weeks of frustration, many hours (over 100) of trying I now have my new server up & running, but I will have to spend some more money on some disc partitioning software as I don't expect Acronis will answer my emails in time to be of any use. Will I be buying Acronis Disc Director - NO
All I can hope for is that this post helps someone else out.
