Backup & Recovery 10 installtions locks up computer

Thread needs solution

I have a computer running Windows XP Professional SP2. I am trying to install Backup & Recovery 10 (Build 11639) on a computer. During the AcronisAgentWindows.msi installation part of the process the computer would lock up. By this I mean I would have to hard boot the computer before it would do anything. Parts of Acronis would install but not a complete install. This required me to manually remove Acronis from the computer. (I found a nice manual Uninstall process from Marat Setdikov.)

I called Acronis support and he had me do several things:
1) Recreate the profile of the account I was installing from
2) Install from another account
3) Use the domain administrator account instead of creating a new system service account
4) Upgrade to build 13762

None of the above suggestions resulted in a complete installation. Upgrading the the latest version 10 build would not lock up the computer, but it would fail the install. It did provide me with some error codes.

I have researched the acronis forums and google and tried what I could find for help. Which was not much more than besure Acronis Scheduler2 service was started and all Acronis services were set to a local system account.

Anyone got a good idea of what is causing the problems?

Btw, http://forum.acronis.com/forum/16337 ?

all Acronis services were set to a local system account.

No. They're better be let run on the accounts they're originally installed with, as described in http://kb.acronis.com/content/10555

During the last attempt at installation I let Acronis create the accounts. It made no difference.

I had found 16337. I use OfficeScan and during one of the attempts at installing I unloaded it. No change.
