Backup/Image with naming convention and managing all servers from console.

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm new to Acronis and have some questions.

I would like to setup an image backup that creates an independent image each time it runs backup. So basically every night I would like it to create a full independent separate backup of the c: and d: drive. Based on my finding, it looks like I set a custom backup and set a full backup each time correct?  Also, to create a separate image of c: and d: volumes I would specify multi volume snapshot to disable correct?

Under run I see a "replication/cleanup 1st location" and I'm assuming this is because I set the retention to delete after 5 images.  When i look at this task it says it is set to manual , even though I set it to run after the backup.  I'm assuming this is normal?

One of the things I need to know is how do I control the naming convention? I would like to have the server name + drive volume on the file name of the full image.

I do not see manage multiple servers , I do not see how on the console to view all the servers , it only displays the server it is currently on.  So on my test environment, I have it installed on 2 servers and would like to know how to manage both of them from within a single console.  Is there a way to push agents to multiple servers , or do I need to keep installing the full install on each server I wish to backup?  I read somewhere that there is a management console, and is this a separate product? I just using the trial version of the ABR 11 for server.

Please advice.

Thanks.

There is "Server for Windows" (standalone , http://www.acronis.com/backup-recovery/server-windows/ ) and "Advanced Server" (http://www.acronis.com/backup-recovery/advanced-server/) . Standalone is installed with all its components as a whole and its console connects to localhost automatically and can only manage this machine.
In case of Advanced one, you can install just Agent for Windows on a machine and manage it remotely, or install Management Server and manage several machines centralized.

So using the windows standalone, I can not manage any other server? Is there a management console available as a separate product?

Answer 1 - no, you can't.
Answer 2- Management console is what you see when you click desktop icon in the standalone version. It's not a separate product, but a component of Acronis Backup and Recovery, in all editions. In advanced version it has more features, but it's considered the same component. The only 'paid' component is Agent: when it's installed with a license of standalone version, it accepts only local connection and can't be managed from a Management Server.

From the previous post -

Is there a way to push agents to multiple servers , or do I need to keep installing the full install on each server I wish to backup?

There are several ways - you can extract .msi files of Agent Core and Agent for Windows and run them on each machine manually or in unattended mode; you can use 'remote installation' feature from the machine where Console is installed; you can install through Group Policy in the domain environment.
