Backup/Recovery bootable media in Hyper-V Server 2008 R2?

Thread needs solution

Greetings all. I'm running Backup/Recovery for Windows 10.0.11639. I have the bootable media as an .iso which seems to work great in ESX. Started today to restore a .TIB into a Hyper-V VM. The Hyper-V server is the "stand alone" varierty - Microsoft Server 2008 R2 core with Hyper-V. This is not a full install of Server 2008 with the Hyper-V role but rather MS's equivalent of ESXi.
I started by creating a new VM and configuring it to boot from the .iso. Virtual machine locks hard as soon as the Acronis splash screen is displayed. I have to release the mouse and shut it down.
Anyone else running into this? In post 4840 ISSProKing notes that his attempts were freezing at the import stage. I'm not even getting that far?
I'm curious to know if booting into Acronis and restoring into the VM is a suitable option here? I realize there are conversion options to create a VHD and may try that next but would like to know if there are other posts reflecting this issue?
Thanks.

A quick update - perhaps I was too hasty in checking this. It turns out that if I *do not* click the mouse in the VM window while it is on the splash screen that I can use the keyboard to navigate to the third option and boot the backup/recovery image. Once the image is loaded the mouse appears to work?
However, lingering at the splash screen or attempting to use the mouse to navigate to the boot option for Backup/Recovery definitely freezes the VM and requires a restart.
Odd.

Hello Gregg Hamby,

Thank you for posting. I will definitely help you with this.

Unfortunately due to lack of diagnostic information it is very difficult to say what exactly caused this specific issue, however, one of the most probably reasons for that is BIOS. It could be caused by interrupts caused by BIOS. You can try updating it and see if this issue persists.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.
