black screen during boot after UR restore ...
Hello !
Can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong ?
I backuped an old IBM server, using the boot CD (build 11345) without error. (dual Xeon CPU, windows 2003 srv std)
Then I restored the image, using the same boot CD on a new 'HP ML 350 G6' (Single Quad Core Xeon). I specified both chipset and RAID drivers, freshly downloaded from the HP web site.
All my bios, firmware, etc are up to date on the new server.
1 hour later, restoration successfull !
And then ... no luck, i'm unable to boot windows "normaly". It begins to load, and suddenly, black screen and reboot ;(
I can boot in safe mode without any problem.
I tryed to install all drivers in safe mode (that didn't resolve my booting problem), de activate several options in the bios (virtual technology, nx support, etc) without any success.
I already had the same problem with such a migration on a siemens server (disabling virtual technology solved my problem)
PLEASE HELP MEEEE ;)

Problem solved :)
1. enter the bios on the new computer
2. disable all "processor options" (first menu in the ML 350 G6 bios)
this include:
disable virtual technology
disable nx support
disable intel vt-d
disable "Quad Core" let only one core unable.
disable "turbo" mode
4. Windows will boot in normal mode.
5. Install all required drivers (using smart start CD on HP servers)
6. in my case, install latest windows update (SP2 at least)
7. reboot your server and enable all options previously disabled.
8. operation complete !

I have similar problem. But in my case image was created from working system. I disable all processor option in ML 350 G6 BIOS and provide driver for P410i controller in section Mass storage driver install anyway but after restore system won't boot, black screen and restart. Gilles could you told me what exactly drivers you choose?

Hello !
Make sure you set your processor to allow only 1 core ...
I used two drivers:
-> P410 provided on the HP web site.
-> chipset drivers, provided from Intel (I don't remember the chipset name ... I think it was something like 5000z)
I also flashed the P410 controler to the latest firmware (downloaded on the HP website).
Are you able to boot your OS in safe mode ?
