Boot Cd won't start
Hi,
I'm using Acronis® Backup & Recovery™ 10 Workstation, and when i use the boot cd in the computer ( HP xw9400 Workstation ) it doesn't start.
It boots normally, i choose to start acronis, and it hangs out at the part that seems to be the disc detection.
How may i fix this?
Best Regards
Tiago

Hello Tiago and Wolfgang!
Thank you for finding time to open the thread regarding this issue, I will be glad to help you!
Unfortunately due to the lack of diagnostic information it is difficult to identify the reason, but all point on the error with the loader of the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media, and we have a solution for it. I have just forwarded to you via PM the links to the newer bootable media, based on another loader - it should resolve the issue.
Should the problem persist, please kindly contact any of Acronis Forum Moderators via PM for further instructions.
I would appreciate if you could keep us updated regarding the problem, and do not hesitate to contact us in case you have any questions or concerns - we will be glad to help!
Thank you!

I'm having a similar problem -- using TrueImage 11, bld 8101 to burn a bootable CD (using "Tools->Create Bootable Rescue Media") , I find that attempts to boot from the resulting disk result in hangs when I select either Acronis option offered.
The options are:
Acronis True Image Home(Full version)
Acronis DriveCleanser
Windows
Choosing either of the Acronis items initiates CD activity, blanks the screen, then... nothing (hang).
Can you help? Thanks,
David

Hi, I'm using ATI Home 2010, it worked fine, but now I put in a new hard drive, fresh install of windows xp pro sp2, and now, I can't start ATI from the
boot CD. It does boot, and says loading, then I get the message no such device? This is a fairly new hp desktop, with a new 500gb sata drive. I had used
the Seagate Utility CD that came with the new drive to clone the old, failing drive to the new one. The computer will start up fine in windows, but since it is
all brand new, I want to use ATI to make a Full Backup Set of the drive to DVDs.
error pdc: reading /dev/sda/(input output error) This makes no sense, as the new drive is working fine?
I hope someone can help with this?
thanks

Hi again,
I just downloaded the newest boot cd version from site, and tried booting from it, and it gives me the exact same error message:
ERROR: pdc: reading /dev/sda/(input output error).
I don't understand how this can be. This computer boots fine from this new hard drive (seagate sata 500gb), but I just can't get
Acronis to start from the CD when I boot from it?
Thanks, hoping someone can shed some light on this one.........

Hello T W,
Thank you for your post. I will do my best to assist you.
Since you have tried the latest version of the boot CD, we need additional information to get this issue resolved.
Please submit a support request with the following information:
1. If the boot cd goes past the error message, please collect this report.
2. If it does not get past the error message, please create pictures of the error and any other text that appears after it.
3. Try booting without quiet - When you see Starting Acronis Loader text, press F11 key. In the popup remove the word quiet and press OK. In the # prompt please type /bin/product to launch the GUI. If it fails, please take pictures of any text/errors that you encounter.
4. Just in case, check your hard drive for errors.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.

Hello Anton,
I pressed F11 key when ATI was loading on boot. I deleted the word "quiet" from box. That opened the GUI. I selected ATI full version. Then I got the dos screen, it scrolled full with all kinds of lines of text. It did this for 3 or 4 pages, several minutes on each. Then, the screen went blank, black. I hit the enter key, and the screen came back with full of lines of text commands like before, and continued to scroll with same commands of text, mostly trying to read the drive,
and talking about "Buffer I/O error on device dev/sda, and then the same error as before "ERROR: pdc: reading /dev/sda/ (input/output error), and then
lists block numbers, different ones on each line. It just keeps repeating this cycle.
I certainly doubt there is anything wrong with this drive, as it is brand new, and it works fine. Windows boots up and runs fine from this drive?
I was able to make a FUll backup image to DVDs from ATI from within windows on this drive. I just can't get ATI to start from the bootable recovery CD that I created from ATI. And, I downloaded the latest version and burned it, and it does the same thing. It's the one I am using now?
How do I make you pictures of the text/erros on the dos screen?

Anton,
I just unplugged the drive, put in another new sata drive, this time a different brand, maxtor 500gb, and tried booting computer with recovery boot cd. It did the exact same thing! So, I turned it off, re-booted from CD, and this time deleted "quiet" like you said, and it is giving me the same errors on the dos screen as it did with the other drive. Now, I know it is something other than the hard drive. For some reason, ATI isn't able to boot from it's recovery Cd, or it's simply not "seeing" the sata drive thru the motherboard? Makes no sense to me, as I said before, the computer boots fine into windows?

Hello T W,
Thank you for getting back to me.
Please try booting the following way:
- After pressing the F11 key and removing the word quiet, please type the following: acpi=off noapic
Please let me know how everything goes. Any chance you can also check your hard drive connector cables and hard drive controller?
As for making pictures of the text/errors unfortunately there is no other way but using a mobile phone or a digital camera to take pictures of those.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you.

Hi Anton,
I did as you said, used F11, and wrote acpi=off noapic, then it went through a couple of pages of text really quick, and stopped at the # at the bottom.
I'm attaching a screenshot I took with my camera. Hope it helps you figure this thing out?

I too am using True Image Home 10. I am trying to restore my system and find that the supposed "bootable" cd doesn't. Where can I get a working copy? Is the build #4942 on the Acronis website any good?
