Cloning Velociraptor HD to new SSD possible?

Thread needs solution

I would like to clone my Velociraptor HD 150 GB (free 100GB) with two partitions (O:WIN7; P:Data) to a SSD (foe example: SuperTalent Ultradrive GX 128GB).
1. Is this possible in principle?
2. And when yes, will the partitions be kept7/stay the same on the SSD (may be a silly question cause it´s a clone)?
Any answer would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
Cheers Rainer

ATI home products will not let you resize partitions. The workstation products will let you resize partions. As far as copying to ssd, the ssd drives are still sata devices, so I dont think it will be a problem. Anybody feel free to correct my statements here, I`m somewhat shootin from the hip.

Hello all!

First of all thank you for your comments!

I would like to assure you that you can surely resize partitions during cloning process with the help of home versions of Acronis Products.

You can choose either Acronis Migrate Easy 7 or Acronis True Image Home 2010. First one is designed for cloning only, the second will allow you also to  create the backups to be able to recover in case of hardware failure. We have three modes of cloning the drive in both products:

  1. As is.
  2. Proportional. The new disk space will be proportionally distributed between cloned partitions.
  3. Manual. You will specify the new size and other parameters yourself.

You can see more information here on page 19.

Also there should be no issues with cloning onto SSD.

Should you have any further questions or concerns - feel free to share it with us!

Thank you!
