Command Line Cloning of HDD without Resizing

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I need to set up automated cloning of the primary HDD of an industrial machine to a secondary HDD which is only brought online during the cloning process. Other operations need to be carried out at the time so I am looking at using the command line tools with Acronis Backup and Recovery 11 WorkStation to do the cloning part.

The manual says that cloning with the clone disk command automatically resizes the partitions. Is it possible to turn this off? Being in an industrial machine I want to keep the partitions as small as needed but as time marches on HDD sizes grow and the smaller sizes aren't available any longer. I would prefer to have the partitions of the same size regardless of the HDD size ie. I want the C: partition to be 20G and waste unallocated space on the HDD rather than have C: grow.

If it is not possible to disable automatic resizing with the clone disk command, is there another approach that should be taken with other commands to achieve the desired result.

Thanks,
Leon
