I have the latest version of Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Advanced Workstation with Universal Restore. What would be the best way to take a physical hard drive and convert it to a VHD (Microsoft Virtual PC 2007) hard drive image using Universal Restore? I have a user that is getting a new Windows 7 Pro x64 computer and I want to image their existing Windows 7 PC and let them run it in a virtual machine for a few weeks until we're sure all the settings and data are moved over exactly how they want them.

Hi Jeff

One way you could get this done is create the VM with the required settings (CPU, RAM..etc..etc) then boot up that VM using the Acronis boot CD. Perform a restore of your image and enable to use Universal Restore. ABR11 will perform the restore as though it’s s normal PC and once the VM restarts you should have a bootable system (you may have to update a few drivers if it’s needed)
