Creating WinPE Image

Thread needs solution

Hey,

I am trying to create an bootable recovery-image using WinPE and Acronis Backup and Recovery.
Following the steps of the wizard Acronis B&R 10 asks me for the WinPE-Files. Where are these files B&R 10 requests? Downloaded Windows AIK (Win7), installed it on another machine and trying to use the network path to the installation path of WinAIK. Even trying to use PETools\x86 doesn't help.

Cause of having no possibilty to install B&R 10 and WinAIK on one machine the support documents didn't help.

I would use Linux for creating a bootable image, but that version has problems with our NAS.

Hello A.K.

Thank you very much for your post. Please accept my apologies for the delay, but I will definitely help you with this issue.

In order for it to work, you need to have the following components installed on one machine:

1. Windows AIK.

2. Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 Management Console.

3. Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 Media builder.

There is no need to install the whole software package on the machine where you have WinAIK and the 2 components that I mentioned above do not take a lot of space.

The WinPe files are located here: C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\

I would also recommend to use (PE 2.1), because we are still working on some issues related to ver. 3.0 which may cause creation failures. You can check this article for download links.

Also, you can try creating a bootable media with the BartPE plugin, it is less complicated and it supports adding two types of drivers: storage drivers and network drivers.

We offer 30 days free trial technical support, if you are still having difficulties, you can contact us directly and we will be able to resolve this problem.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.
