Does Universal Restore have to be installed during image creation to take advantage of its features?

Thread needs solution

I'm looking into Acronis as an imaging backup solution for our systems.

Current systems requiring protection:

windows xp workstations, windows server 2003 r2 (1),windows server 2003 (1)

If we purchase acronis 10 family server and workstation backup utilities now and created images, could we use the features of universal restore if we installed it after the image creations?  i.e., is universal restore a stand-alone application or does it integrate "universal restore" features into the image?

Reason:  we want to purchase imaging software now.  if the need arises for a restore onto a different hardware platform in the future, we would purchase Universal Restore at that time.

Steven,

UR doesn't have to be installed during an image creation. That being said, it also isn't a standalone application. It's enabled in the BNR 10 Family of software via a product key.

In short, you can do what you want. You just need to create a new recovery disc once you do purchase/enable UR so the recovery enviroment has this option enabled also.

I forgot, you can also just download the necessary pre-built rescue disc (ISO) now from "My Account" once it's registered.

Nice new feature but still getting used to it...LOL
